Freundinnnen (working title; in development)

Freundinnen TV movie for Degeto
Director: N.N.
Screenplay: Markus Mayer
Commissioning Editor: Barbara Süßmann (Degeto)
Genre: comedy

Storyline: Hella von Zernitz finds herself stuck in the last third of her life … and in her well-deserved retirement which, however, turns out far too quiet: Her husband Karlfried spends more time on the golf course than with his wife. Anne (63), although retired as well, hardly finds time for all her obligations: Her daughter doesn’t cope with the challenge of running her mother’s auction house. Only Anne’s evenings are lonely – without Manfred, her deceased husband.

Together the two ladies discover an urge to live and see the world before it becomes too late – and to get one over on their dear ones. Thus they set off, in Anne’s convertible, towards the Loire river. There they meet a charming guy named Gachet who – much to Anne’s delight – does not only prove to be a world champion in flirting, but also seems to possess a valuable piece of art. But is his treasure really genuine?

Storyline: The war in Iraq has caused one of the world’s largest flows of refugees of our times. Like 2 million other Iraqis, Abu Ahmed, a tea vendor, was forced to leave his country – along with his wife and six children. His own relatives, who would not tolerate his marriage to his Shiite wife Wafa, expelled him from his home and continue to threaten him. His three oldest daughters have not been allowed to leave the house for three years, for fear of their lives. In Damascus, Syria, the family has found shelter – but not a new home. A film about waiting, on the eve of the Arab Spring.

Storyline: It’s “foehn” in the Bavarian alpine upland. The people who know what “foehn” means, also know that a few inhabitants notice listlessness in this special height, others get migraines, and one or the other might even get concrete thoughts of killing someone.

The old-established mortician couple, Ignaz and Ursel Grasegger, are not easily brought out of ease by the “foehn” as others might. But suddenly their all so quiet and steady hometown gets hit by one mishap after the other. Since a couple of days, commissar Jennerwein is detecting a murder case, which does not give his quiet hometown a lot of time and air to breathe. The local citizens are discussing possible murderers while drinking beer and eating “Weißwurst”. Meanwhile the Graseggers are not having such an easy time breathing in the high leveled Alps, because actually, behind their all so normal citizen mask, they have a dark secret that is yet to be discovered …
